Quick Self-Quiz for High Achievers
Take this brief 9-question quiz to see how you’re doing.
Here’s a quick gut-check. How many of the following are true for you right now, or are frequently true?
You end the workday or workweek feeling drained – whether physically, mentally, emotionally, or spiritually (e.g., soul-sucking).
You don’t feel like you’re always doing your best work, even though it is objectively better than average or even excellent.
The last time you crushed your deliverables, saved the project, or moved mountains to meet a deadline, you barely paused to acknowledge it before moving on to the next priority at work.
While you believe your work matters, you don’t feel very connected to your sense of Purpose on a daily basis.
You routinely set aside your own needs and personal life desires order to be high-performing at work.
You pride yourself on your ability to push longer and harder than most people, while continuing to perform at a high level.
Unless something in your personal life is truly in crisis (e.g., personal health, loved one emergency), work is your biggest priority.
You are uninterested in dialing back your career ambitions, even if that means sacrificing your personal well-being from time to time (or frequently).
In hindsight, you’ve been through some cycles of depletion (or full burnout) and recovery. Or maybe you’re in one right now.
Whether every statement rang true for you or only a few resonated, you’re in the right place. And you’re not alone.
The overarching aim of the book MOTIVATED AF is to take high-ambition professionals from relying on a burnout-inducing drive to achieve in their careers and lives, to a place of sustainable performance and fulfillment, without dialing back their ambitions for career success and a well-lived life.
Behind the Scenes of MOTIVATED AF
A glimpse into what it takes to write, publish, launch, and perpetuate this book.
Since I can pretty much write anywhere, anytime, I don’t have any real “entry routines” to get me in the zone to write. I don’t have to be in the mood to write, and I don’t have to force myself to sit down to do it. Sure, sometimes I feel like I’ve got words that are begging to come forth and I can’t wait to get going. But I can be just as productive without that feeling.
What I did establish for the writing of MOTIVATED AF, is a little energy ritual. It’s a couple of things I do to connect to the spirit of the book, as well as the Me-of-the-Future who’s realized its success.
I’ve got a pretty silver alter bell that I ring before I write, or whenever I feel like (re)aligning to the energy of the book.
I’ve got a crystal heart (I forget what exactly it is) that I’ve charged with the frequency book completion and opportunities.
As a longtime fan of essential oils for setting the mood, I’ve got a doTERRA roll-on vial of Motivate blend.
An assortment of orange and green crystal bracelets (2nd and 4th chakras, plus the colors of the book) adorn my wrist as I write.
It doesn’t matter if you share any of my beliefs about energy. These little rituals are meaningful to me and help me to set the right tone with my energy as I work.
